Alex joins the symphony

http://www.hochstein.org/hyso/

I am so proud of Alex. Not only is he an A student, but he's a great musician too. Okay, that's Mom talking but, he got a 100 on a level 6 piece for his All-State tryout. Normally I would expect nothing less but he had to go all the way to Buffalo to do it because he was on a band trip when tryouts were in Rochester.

Then lo and behold he got a spot in the Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra. That made his year!

Life is good.

Alyssa in the Garden

I think this is my favorite painting, so far, this year.

I am currently struggling through yet another bout of no confidence. I just don't understand what makes "great" or even "good" art. I know art is in the eye of the beholder but still.......

Somewhere out there I hope to find my niche. So far I haven't found it. I will pout awhile to be sure but I think I'll pull up my bootstraps and get back out there. It's unfortunate that I encounter this "roadblock" just when I have to take the summer away from my painting buddies.

I refuse to believe my mother was right.

Graduation '08

This is the fabulous 2008 Graduation Band (minus one fabulous tuba player)!

Another year has come and gone. Alex is a senior. I can't believe that all the abstract, looking at colleges is that much closer to becoming a reality. SAT and ACT scores, auditions, essays, college apps and FAFSA forms....oh my!

Congratulations to all our graduated friends....we will miss you. Jazz and Marching Band will not be the same. Good luck and be sure to check in once in a while.
