"Goodbye" old friend.....

Yesterday was an emotional day all round. We said goodbye to Durand Eastman for the last "official" time in the morning. As Jack and I came around the corner and saw the wrecking equipment up against the building I choked up and I didn't even attend this school. I know the building is really the people in it and even though we will be in three buildings next year we will still be Durand Eastman in spirit. It was still hard to realize this is it...it's coming down. We look forward to saying, "Hello" to a new Durand in another few months.

Reflections on a Queen tune......

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust
Hey, Im gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust

How do you think Im going to get along,
Without you, when youre gone
You took me for everything that I had,
And kicked me out on my own

Well, another one bites the dust....so to speak. We lose some of our favorite "friends" and move along ourselves. I sit and watch the procession on my TV and think how much closer my own son is to this momentous occasion. Eastridge graduates ~ CONGRATULATIONS! As Spock would say, "Live long and prosper".....and the story continues.

I am dreaming of Alice Cooper........

Schools Out
Alice Cooper

Well we got no choice
all the girls and boys
Makin' all that noise
cause they found new toys.

Well we can't salute ya
can't find a flag
If that don't suit ya
that's a drag.

School's out for summer
School's out forever

School's been blown to pieces.
No more pencils
No more books

No more teacher's dirty looks.

Well we got no class and we got no principles

And we got no innocence

We can't even think of a word that rhymes.

School's out for summer
school's out forever

My school's been blown to pieces.
No more pencils
No more books

No more teacher's dirty looks.

Out for summer
Out till fall

We might not come back at all.

School's out forever
School's out for summer

School's out with fever
School's out completely.

Some of you that are graduating I will truly miss. You have been good to Alex and helped him along. I love your Moms and Dads and hope that we can still spend time together even though you are done with High School AND the Band. No more fun times on the band bus.....oooh this is starting to sound like a bad note in the yearbook. So, "Go on, get on with your lives....but check in once in awhile. I would love to know how you are doing". Oh yeah, "Congratulations!!"

And while I am on the subject; even though I can't wait for school to be over, homework to be over, getting up in the dark to be over.......I will be the first Mom screaming at my son in Wegman's, "I can't wait 'til school starts again!" I am sure you will be the one laughing at me. :-D
