In Search of Spiritual Enlightenment at the Mall

Today, being Good Friday, I took the boys shopping. What better way to feel closer to the true meaning of Easter? It's not that bad, really. Everyone will be happy we made this little trip.

Alex's sneakers have all become unbearable. Tuesday he actually had to apologize to his piano teacher for taking his shoes off. "I am sorry about the smell. Mom is taking me to get new shoes AND socks this week." Apparently his classmates have also been none too pleased with the odor in the locker room. The problem is remedied until the next time he wears his shoes in the snow or rain and then wears them all day.....PU!

On the "bad Mommy" front.....last night my "baby" fell asleep in my bed. I decided to carry all 75 pounds of him to his own bed. Long story short, I tripped over the rug and dropped him. It was one of those moments when you know what's coming but can't get it back. My poor Jack hit the floor hard and square on his back. He was sound asleep until that moment. He awoke with a scream. Dad came running (thinking he had fallen off the top bunk) and found us both crying: me from guilt , him from pain. The sweet boy righted himself and climbed into bed. In my guilt and fear I made him come back to my room. I needed to be able to hear him breathing. Today, I am sore and he is fine. Mother guilt is way too powerful. He better grow up straight and true or I will be sure it was from that night in 2005 when I almost dropped him on his head. Everyone has reminded me that he really is too big for me to carry anymore. But he is my youngest and I can do it......usually!

Happy first day of SPRING!!!

It's the first day of spring in Rochester so, of course after a week of more temperate weather, it is snowing. I still have faith that warmer weather is on its way. The sun is coming up earlier and staying up longer, geese are flying north again, the birds are singing and I am seeing the beginnings of green grass underneath all the piles of snow that are S L O W L Y melting away. This means mud and Dexter so loves his Sunday walks. Can you say bath?

To all the hardworking parents, teachers and students at Eastridge, "Copacabana" was GREAT. You guys amaze me everytime I see you perform. I can not believe the talent that we have in this little district. Frankie, I knew you could play the trumpet but I never knew you could sing....WOW!Even Jack sat mesmerized. Bravo! Bravo!

The artist now puts herself out there for the good or the bad; for the critic and the art lover.
I hope that they will move someone, somewhere. My heart is in them.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

It's a day when everyone is Irish! Wear green, drink too much green beer and eat corned beef and cabbage! I'm only a little bit Irish but I'm out there with the rest of you. Only difference is I'll be eating boiled vegetables and drinking green soda (it's a school night!). Enjoy but be careful out there.

ERIN GO BRAGH!
